Denil is a graduate of Ecuadorian LDU Quito. He played for the youth and reserve teams of this club from the age of 16. Denil made 15 apps for LDU Quito (U20) in the championship and the Copa Libertadores (U20) during the 2022 season. Castillo is an Ecuador U20 player. He made his debut for the team on June 8, 2022.
The player's 5-year contract with Shakhtar came into force on July 1, 2023.
He has a central midfielder role. Denil has good anthropometry and ball handling technique, is uncompromising in challenges for the ball, excellently reads the play.
