Mykola Matviienko is a graduate of the Shakhtar Academy after having attended it since age 13. He won the Ukrainian League title and the 2014/15 UEFA Youth League second place with the U19 outfit. In the summer of 2015, he made his debut with Shakhtar senior team in the cup game vs Arsenal Kyiv. In 2017, he played on loan for Karpaty and Vorskla. Mykola was named the best left-back of the 2016/17 league season according to the UPL.
He has played for Ukraine national team since 2017.
Mykola expertly holds the position on the pitch, boldly tackling his opponents and successfully supporting attacks.
